“After I saved up enough money I bought a Fostex multitrack recorder, Boss DR-5 rhythm machine, and an Alesis MidiVerb….As of now the equipment I own is up to date. It is a matter of me taking it to the next level…. So I am ready to further my knowledge, heighten my skills, and improve my technique. I want to give back to music and recording what it has given me - if that is at all possible. Starting from the bottom up is good. As long as you start.”

My fascination with recording stems from my love of music. To start off, my grandmother adopted me. I was the youngest of four girls who received all the hand-me-downs. One day my mother brought over a bag of clothes and a transistor radio. I still remember falling asleep listening to my silver Realistic on my pillow. The only thing I felt was mine was....MUSIC. However I couldn't afford the batteries it needed from me leaving it on all night. Listening to all the songs on radio made me want to make my own songs.

The first thing I remember recording is my voice on the old box tape recorders. My oldest sister had the money to buy the electronics. My privilege was to invade her privacy and belongings. I do remember that the first piece of recording equipment I bought was a karaoke machine. Sound quality, horrific! Can you imagine one mic to the drums and the other to bass. Then on playback on another tape add keyboards and vocals. In a word: YUCK!

After I saved up enough money I bought a Fostex multitrack recorder, Boss DR-5 rhythm machine, and an Alesis MidiVerb. As of now the equipment I own is up to date. It is a matter of me taking it to the next level.

My younger siblings are natural entertainers. They have always looked to me in a recording capacity. On my days off I help my brother with his CD. He has elected me as his producer. My sister only wants a few songs done. She tells me what she wants and I make it happen.

Somewhere down the road my love of doing this was shoved in the back of a closet. My presence has been confiscated into twelve-hour shifts at my present job. However my mind and heart always will be with my music, equipment, and my future. Although I have been busy at my 6:30-7:00 job, subconsciously I have been reaching my objective. I've been asking myself why I haven't pursued a career in this profession. Because you see, it takes all this to make you, and I am no stranger to hard work.

"It is not the years in your life, it is the life in your years." I am ready to start living and do what I was meant to. You can lose everything except your talent. So I am ready to further my knowledge, heighten my skills, and improve my technique. I want to give back to music and recording what it has given me - if that is at all possible. God is trying to tell me something.

Starting from the bottom up is good. As long as you start.

Charline called me Tuesday and we already have our first session slated for all day tomorrow. I received the training material yesterday....it looks like someone knew what they were doing when they wrote it....good stuff !! I've gone through and prepared the first lesson for tomorrow, and will be reading the rest of the manual tonight to get an overview. Again, the manual is VERY well done. I'm going to let my 17 year old son read it....he's already an engineer with his own studio, (that I gave him) but I feel it will benefit him greatly just the same.... I am looking forward to getting started. Charline seems to be a very nice person, and very eager to learn this new craft. I will do my level best to bring out the best in her....that's what I'm good at. (I don't want to sound braggy....it's just that I know what I can do). I could use another good producer/engineer also....so, we'll see.

P.S. We’re going to be doing more than just one lesson per week...we are also going to have "labs" and video lessons (just thought you'd like to know....I'll keep you "in the know")
